In this section you can find information about additional services we are offering. The additional services can be divided in two sections, tours on the one hand and lodging on the other. On the tours section you can find information about activities in each destination. In Ecuador you can visit the pacific coast or go mountain-biking on the Cotopaxi volcano. Off course you can also experience the Amazon or the famous Galapagos Islands. In the lodging section we provide more information about lodging in Quito and Montevideo during your stay. Enjoy the warmth of a local host family or choose the freedom of student residence!

Tours & Adventures

The astonishing country of Ecuador is said to have an irresistible attraction because the experience is as complete and fulfilling as you wish it to be. Only think of visiting the impressive Andean landscapes with its massive peaks, steep canyons, the extraordinary remains of ancient civilizations, the breathtaking biodiversity of the Amazon basin and the jungle-lined Amazon river where caimans splash into the water in front of you.

 With LH discover Ecuador’s rich culture through well organized and professional guided tours be overwhelmed by Ecuador’s diverse geography, flora and fauna, varying from the Andes Mountain range in the Central of the continent, the tropical coast line and the dense forest that surrounds the headwaters of the Amazon with its mysterious emerald depths. Visit Montañita and Puerto Lopez on the coast, relax in the thermal volcanic springs of Baños and Papallacta and explore through the picturesque Colonial historical center of Cuenca.

Continue on to the impressive scenery of the Cotopaxi volcano to finally reach the city of Riobamba where you take the devils nose train which will take you on a fascinating trip. Accommodation in Quito

When you come with LH to Ecuador you have various options to choose from where to stay during your placement. We offer lodging in student residence, furnished apartments and home stay with local families in Quito. For accommodation outside Quito, you will have a basic volunteer room nearby the project you will be working on. 

Apartments sharing with fellow students

Apartments are fully furnished, with three private bedrooms. The students have to share the kitchen and the social area. Towels are not provided and have to be bought by the student. All apartments are located 10 minutes from LH office by foot. Public transportation (0.25 US) and taxis (1.5 US) are available all the time.

Ecuadorian Host  families

The host families we select are experienced in providing hospitality to international students. All our host families live between 15 to 25 minutes respectively by taxi and bus from the LH office and the school.  Our host families offer a private room and full board (3 meals per day and a weekly laundry service). Participants can choose from smoking/non-smoking host families and with or without pets or kids. For completing our method of direct learning, the families only speak Spanish. Living with an Ecuadorian family increases the participation in day to day Spanish life, food and culture.

LH Residence

For those students not wanting home stay or apartment we offer stay in our LH residence.  All rooms count with private bathroom (warm water) and closet. They are located 10 min from the LH office by foot. LH residence has a shared entrance, a shared kitchen where you can cook and a social area to watch TV and DVD’s.
