ARGENTINA

Argentina, the eighth largest country of the world, is situated in South America, to the east of The Andes and limits with Chile to the west, with the Atlantic Ocean to the east and with Uruguay, to the north with Bolivia, Paraguay and Brazil to the northeast.
With four large geographical areas: the Andes, the North, Mesopotamia, La Pampa and the Patagonia.  The highest mountain in the western hemisphere is the Aconcagua that has a height of almost 7.000m and the Waterfalls of Iguazú passes more than 5,000 cubic meters of water by second in a spectacular fall of 70m on the river Paraná.  In the southwest a species of small Switzerland with a mountains surrounded by glacial and lakes chain is found.  In its enormous surface of 3.757.407 km2, Argentina offers all the varieties of climates and landscapes: from the hot tropical north, to the polar cold, with its temperately white aspect thanks to the snow and the ice.

In the last century Argentina was a destination of all races and cultures where wove a complicated identity that little by little was characterizing the Argentines.  The tango, soccer, the political passions are only some of the characteristics of our identity.
Spanish is the official language; English is also spoken by a substantial percentage of the people, French and German are spoken, but more rarely.  One of the biggest passions of the Argentines is soccer.  In the city of Buenos Aires, there are 17 stadiums, many of them, with capacity for more than 40,000 spectators.  "El Pato" is the most genuine one of the indigenous sports, and Polo has reached international hierarchy by the dexterity of its players, considered one of the best in the world.  In rugby, the Argentine national team “The Pumas” has had strong showings in world championships.  Skiing has boomed with the installation of new resorts with very good trails and modern lifts.

Our traditions

We are… tango, mate, truco
TANGO… Feeling... that is danced, that is felt in all of the one hundred neighborhoods of Buenos Aires.  The Argentine version is more divulged one that with insolence has lavished the Argentine name on the way of the land.
MATE… In Argentina, it is typical of the people to drink mate, the family gathers at a specific hour to drink mate and talk about life and news, like tea time in England. To drink mate is more than drinking a liquid through a special straw, is a sensation, a feeling, a tradition, an institution.
TRUCO… Truco is a card game, traditional in the countries that border El Rio de La Plata and some countries of Central America, such as Costa Rica, it is a great after dinner game, especially after “una parrilla.”
